International Dance Day History

International Dance Day seeks to celebrate dance and its community. This day aims to raise awareness about dance as an art form. It encourages governments, politicians, and institutions to recognize the value and importance of dance. Each year, the International Dance Committee and the International Theatre Institute choose a dance personality to write an overarching message for the day.

International Dance Day was established in 1982 by the dance committee of the International Theatre Institute. It is observed annually on April 29th.
