National Canadian Film Day History

National Canadian Film Day (NCFD) seeks to promote the largest Canadian Film Festival. This day celebrates the history and artistic presence of Canadian cinema. It encourages everyone to attend the fest and witness the hard work and effort of local and national filmmakers.

National Canadian Film Day was established in 2014 by the non-profit organization Reel Canada. It is the world’s largest film festival. There are more than 800 Canadian film screenings during this festival that are held across the country and around the world. Many theatres, libraries, and schools show Canadian films on this day. This day is observed annually near the end of April.
