Islander Day History
Islander Day on seeks to allow Canadians to enjoy a day off in celebration of family and local community on Prince Edward Island. It is a provincial statutory holiday in Prince Edward Island. This day is a part of a wider celebration in Canada called Heritage Week. The government of Prince Edward Island introduced the observance in 2009. Activities such as skiing, swimming, and skating are popular on this day. The Town of Stratford also hosts a festival called Winter Fam Fest. This festival is a two day event and holds family friendly activities.
