World Tuna Day History
World Tuna Day celebrates and brings awareness to the importance of tunas and other similar species. Since the demand for Tuna is extremely high, especially for sushi and canned tuna, World Tuna Day targets the risk of extinction. Another goal of this observance, which is sponsored by the United Nations, is to increase the health of the ocean and decrease pollution. World Tuna Day occurs annually on May 2nd.
