World Ballet Day History

World Ballet Day seeks to celebrate ballet and the dance community. This day aims to showcase the hard work and effort that goes into dance. It recognizes dancers and their dedication to reach a higher level of technique. This day also allows dance companies to showcase their work including their performances and backstage preparations.

World Ballet Day was founded in 2014 by several dance companies: Bolshoi Ballet, the Royal Ballet, the Australian Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and the National Ballet of Canada. It is observed annually in the first week of October.
