Neighbour Day History

Neighbour Day is dedicated to encouraging people to connect with those who live in their neighbourhood. This day also encourages everyone to check on their neighbour to make sure they are okay. Neighbour Day was created by Andrew Heslop in 2003 in response to the increasing disconnection between neighbours in local communities. Andrew Heslop said during an interview Our communities are only as strong as the people who live in them, which is the reason why building relationships in local communities is important and promotes growth. Neighbour Day is celebrated annually on the last day in March. In 2023, Neighbour Day will occur on March 26th.
