![]() International Albinism Awareness Day HistoryInternational Albinism Awareness Day seeks to raise awareness about albinism and eliminate all forms of discrimination related to albino people. Albinism is a rare, non-contagious, genetically inherited disorder present at birth. It results in a lack of pigmentation (melanin) in the hair, skin, and eyes. It can cause vulnerability to the sun and bright light. Albinism is found in both sexes regardless of ethnicity. It is also found in all countries of the world. This day aims to support those living with albinism by raising awareness about the condition. It encourages learning more about the disorder and working to eliminate myths and any stigma surrounding it. International Albinism Awareness Day was established in 2014 by the UN General Assembly. It is observed annually on June 13th. Top Tweets for International Albinism Awareness Day -
