International Bacon Day History
International Bacon Day seeks to raise awareness about bacon. This day aims to promote and celebrate the cured pork dish.
Colloquially known as back bacon, this meat dish is cut from the boneless eye of pork loin. Previously bacon was rolled up in dried yellow peas, but these days it is rolled in yellow cornmeal.
International Bacon Day was created in 2004 by Colorado University graduate students. It is observed annually on the first Saturday of September.
