The Tony Awards seek to recognize excellence in live Broadway theatre. The awards are named after Antoinette Perry, an actress and director of the American Theatre Wing. Some of the awards are: Best Play, Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Revival of a Musical, Best Costume Design, and Best Sound design.

The Tony Awards were established in 1947 by the American Theatre Wing. The awards are held annually around mid-June.
