National Stroke Week is an awareness campaign to inform everybody about the signs of someone potentially suffering from a stroke. Strokes are a medical emergency which induce trouble walking, speaking, and understanding. Stokes have the potential to cause lasting brain damage.

  • According to Brain Foundation, about 50,500 Australians have strokes annually. Stroke is a leading cause of death and adult disability in Australia.
  • It is predicted that by 2050, the number of annual strokes in Australia will rise to 50,600.
