World Day of Social Justice History

World Day of Social Justice seeks to raise awareness about social justice. The U.N defines social justice as an underlying principle for peaceful and prosperous coexistence within nations. This day aims to highlight the importance of social justice by promoting gender equality and the rights of indigenous peoples. It also aims to remove barriers that people may face involving their age, ethnicity, culture, religion, or disability.

World Day of Social Justice was established in 2007 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on February 20th.
