Air Max Day History

Air Max Day celebrates one of Nike’s most famous shoe models, the Air Max. Nike first released the Air Max 1s in 1987. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Max 1s were the first Nike shoe to feature a visible window in the sole. The design launched decades of successful shoes under the Air Max brand. This day recognizes Nike’s success with the model and highlights how iconic the Air Max has become.

Air Max Day was established in 2017 by Nike to celebrate the Air Max. It is observed annually on March 26th.
