National Camera Day commemorates photographs, cameras, and their invention. The word photography is based on two Greek words, that when put together it means "writing with light". Joseph Niépce was one of the inventors of photography. He developed the heliograph; a technique used to produce the world’s first known photograph in 1825. National Camera Day is observed each year on June 29th.
