World Lion Day History

World Lion Day aims to raise awareness of the decimation of lions. Lions are in danger of becoming extinct due to being hunted and their habitats being destroyed. Lions are critical in the food chain as they help regulate the herbivore population such as elephants and giraffes. Without Lions, these animals would spread diseases and go extinct due to competition amongst their species. On this day, it is popular to donate to charities that contribute to conserving lions.
