International Stress Awareness Day History

International Stress Awareness Day seeks to highlight the importance of living a stress-free life and learning how to cope with stress in a healthy way. Stress is how we react under pressure or when we feel threatened. Stress causes hormonal changes in the body to help cope with the situation. This chemical reaction is known as the fight-or-flight response. Coping with stress is important because it can lead to serious health problems if not treated. International Stress Awareness Day was established in 1998 and has been celebrated each year.
