National Philanthropy Day seeks to recognize and pay tribute to philanthropy and philanthropists. This day aims to acknowledge the contributions of philanthropy in the world.

National Philanthropy Day was founded in 1986 by philanthropist Douglas Freeman. It was signed into law as an official observance in 2013 by the Canadian government. It has since been recognized internationally and continues to be observed annually on November 15th.
