The WWI section of our Tower Hill Memorial commemorates almost 12,000 Mercantile Marines who lost their lives in service and have no grave but the sea. The WWII extension, which commemorates almost 24,000 casualties, was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth II in 1955. #WorldMaritimeDay
