I am old enough to remember when spring bank holiday was the Monday after Pentecost - Whitsun or Whit Monday. The Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971, moved this bank holiday to the last Monday in May. I remember Whitsuntide was a time for new clothes. I remember one Show more
