Reformation Day History

German Reformation Day commemorates the reformation and Luther's posting of the 95 these at a church door in 1517. On 31 October 1517, Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the Wittenberg Castle Church door denouncing the olden ways of the church. This move led to church reformation in Europe and Protestant reformation.

German Reformation Day is celebrated annually on 31 October in memory of Europe's religious reformation. The holiday has been celebrated since the last 16th century however it wasn't until 1717 that the official date of 31 October was chosen.
