May 8 is the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation in Ukraine. The Second World War began for Ukraine on 15 March 1939 when Hungary invaded Carpatho-Ukraine. It ended in the late 1950s-early 1960s when the last fighters of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army were captured the Soviets.
