I unequivocally condemn the actions of Hamas and other terrorist groups this morning in a coordinated ambush against Israel on its Shabbat and Simchat Torah holiday. I stand with Israel in its effort to defend itself from this act of war and call on others to do the same.
While thousands of Jews were heading to synagogues and gatherings to celebrate Shabbat and the festival of Simchat Torah, Hamas terrorists launched a cruel attack on cities. Israel is under attack, and in Miami we stand by its side. Blessed be the name of Israel!

As Jewish members of the @NYCcouncil , while we should be celebrating the joyous holidays of Shabbat and Simchat Torah, we are instead heartbroken at this morning's unprecedented terrorist attacks on Israel. We stand with Israel and condemn these attacks.
Simchat Torah (Hebrew: שמחת תורה) commemorates the joy of the Jews having the Torah (Bible and its instruction). On Simchat Torah, many services read all five Books of Moses.
